“This trip was my best experience in Czechia. It’s a well preserved medieval town, marked by the interesting story of the German Schwarzenberg family, once a powerful noble house. The museum at the tower was wonderful and the well preserved pubs and cafes are following old traditions and ethnics, also style and even dressing of the waiters. It’s a place with many legends and many stories, a must for every traveler across Europe. It’s just sad they disbanded the historical Schwarzenberg guards. “This was a well run tour. Our driver Hansa was very efficient in getting us to and from the place - important because of the long drive and rest stop. Our guide Philip was very entertaining while giving us the history of the town. We learned much while enjoying his animated descriptions of past events. (He was like an actor me in a British comedy play) We enjoyed the restaurant Philip recommended, which was also recommended by our Rick Steves guide book. “It was a great day trip and Karolina was our guide. She is very knowledgeable about the history of the region. You arrive to the town around 12p and then you receive a walking tour of the castle grounds and bits of the town before you can break for lunch around 1:15p. There were a few shops we were brought into that I expect have a reciprocal/payback relationship with the tour operators. Nothing sketchy, but I would have preferred to have more time to explore myself rather than being moved along as a group into certain stores/restaurants.
